Whether you are getting married for the first time, or if you are a bridesmaid for the umpteenth time, the color schemes for the wedding and especially the colors of the flower arrangements mean more than  simply choosing flowers because they 'looked fresh' the day you were choosing a bouquet. From roses to orchids to baby's breath, different colored flower arrangements set the entire mood for a wedding or any other occasion that is worthy of flowers. By knowing the symbolic meaning of flowers and their color variations, you can easily set the perfect mood, atmosphere, and create a memorable event that portrays your feelings of love and dedication.

Roses are the most popular flower to choose for a wedding, anniversary, or any occasion that merits the words "I Love You". Red roses are symbolic of deep feelings of romance, love, and devotion. The meanings of pink roses, which are lighter hue of red roses, symbolize the slightly lesser degree of emotion, which is infatuation, adoration, and gratitude. While orange roses represent excitement and desire, and yellow roses are most commonly known for friendship, white roses are still the rose of choice for wedding arrangements. A white rose signifies purity and innocence, and new beginnings, which is exactly what most people home to achieve at their wedding

Beautiful as they might be, flower arrangements made primarily of lilies are tradition for funerals as they represent remembrance and purity. For a wedding, it's best to go with lavender or yellow lilies, as these flowers are used in terms of congratulations, pride, and happiness.

Orchids are appropriate for wedding flower arrangements as they represent love, beauty, and the finer things in life, and fertility. Tulips traditionally are symbolic of anything having to do with spring and they represent happiness and true love. Most popular flowers can be found appropriate to use as a flower arrangement for a wedding, but the color of the individual flowers can further enhance or specify the mood of the event.

Color schemes, or choice of colors that are used in combination with each other, can create a variety of moods. Colors that pair well with other colors are called 'Harmonious', and they are positioned close together on the color wheel. Lighter colors, such as blue and pink pair nicely and can give off a calm and peaceful aura. Darker colors, such as burgundy and Cerulean, give a more dramatic effect and create a serious tone. The colors that you choose for your flower arrangements should reflect your attitude and disposition. Knowing the symbolic meaning behind each beautiful bloom as well as their colors can make your wedding or shower a truly remarkable day.
